Surveillance Camera Policy

Clinic Name: Fluent Registered Massage Therapy
Location: 3641 W. 29th Avenue, Vancouver, BC

1. Purpose of Surveillance

The surveillance camera is used solely for the following purposes:

To enhance the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors.
To monitor the entrance and waiting area in the absence of on-site reception.
To protect clinic property and support incident verification if needed.

Surveillance is not used for any marketing or promotional purposes.
Cameras are never placed in treatment rooms, washrooms, or any space where individuals have a
reasonable expectation of privacy.

2. Location and Scope

One camera is installed in the clinic’s waiting area.
It captures video only (no audio).
The camera’s view is limited to the entrance and general waiting space.
The camera is positioned to avoid capturing any private or clinical interactions.

3. Collection, Use, and Storage of Information

Personal information collected via video is gathered under the authority of PIPA.
Footage is used only for the purposes listed in Section 1.
Video recordings are stored securely and retained for no more than 30 days, unless required for legal or investigative purposes.
Access is restricted to authorized staff members and may be shared with third parties only when required by law (e.g., law enforcement, regulatory bodies).

4. Patient Rights and Privacy

We respect your right to understand how your personal information is collected and used.
Individuals may request access to their personal information captured by video, subject to legal exceptions.
Requests or concerns can be directed to our Privacy Officer (contact details below).
We are committed to ensuring our surveillance practices are fair, lawful, and transparent.

5. Signage and Notification

Clear signage is posted at the clinic entrance to inform all individuals of camera use.
This policy is accessible via a QR code posted in the waiting area and on our website.
